***UPDATE: The translation is

A PR-woman confessed to me in Paris recently that she was wet for Went.

OK so in context, it’s used as a phrase (by the author of the article) but it’s in italics! How cool is that?!

Oh Crap! I took one semester of German about 4 years ago, but it looks like it might say something like “He was in Paris with his new PR woman, according to WFW” Anybody who actually speaks German in the house???

2. AJ

WFW, I love how you still don’t “get” that you’re famous. Hahahaha. It’s in writing now…so there’s no denying it. πŸ˜‰ Kudos, woman!

16. Erika

Awww WFW, you’re so modest. I love that about you. If this would have happened to me I would have been like: “YEAH BABY, HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?! HOW.DO.YOU.LIKE.ME ALL UP IN GQ MAG WITH WENT. Eat my dust bitch!” That goes for the girl that called you white trash on JJ. Now when can I expect my autograph?

17. ROCK… LOVE… and German GQ.
Oh yeah, soon enough you’ll be walking up the same red carpets he does. With him.

18. Silvia

So now YOU’ll write “you rock” on all those pics…congrats

19. Giulia

WOW!! this is the coolest thing i’ve ever seen!!

20. Bel

Even if it’s not actually the site name (you’ve figured that by now, gathering from the update) it may still be the PR woman shouting out to you!
You are famous, WFW! Anyone who knows Went and has the tools to surf the net, knows you!
Yaaaaaay!

21. satinfee

I so laughed when I read that the author kinda mentioned you… yes, you rock WFW!

Your online translators weren’t totally off but it reads more like “Even in Paris a PR-woman recently confessed to me that SHE is wet for Went”
Now I see that sounds a bit like she taking your credit, WFW… πŸ˜‰

22. Anty

Yeah, she’s merely using “to be wet for Went” as a way of expressing how he makes her feel. It’s in italics because it’s a foreign language expression, that’s not part of the language it’s used in (as opposed to, say, harddrive). Then Went goes on about how they threw panties in Korea and he couldn’t hit the streets alone.

23. It’s STILL cool!!! See, WFW, good things happen to good people, and while they may not happen quickly, they eventually DO happen! Phrase or not, the mention of “wet for Went” is HUGE and not coincidental…it couldn’t have happened to a cooler chick!

24. Shorty

Does anyone have a complete translation of the article yet? I’d love to know what is says, as I’m sure everyone else would.

25. From the article:

“Prison Break is not a ratings hit only in the United States. A PR-woman confessed to me in Paris recently that she was wet for Went. And Went talks of Korea, which he visited a month ago – panties were thrown.. “It’s amazing, the success the show has had there. I couldn’t go out in the street alone.”

Those sweet, innocent Korean girls sure had us fooled with the armless Went sculpture and costumed teddy bears. They weren’t innocent at all! They flung their panties at Went! Tricksy, tricksy…hmmmmm…now we know why he looked so happy there!

26. Oh and this quote from Went:

“Each time we visited Heidelberg. We would lay our hats on the town square and tried to earn our meal money. It would just cover beer and bratwursts. And I remember this pool where the girls could go topless. In retrospect, I think that’s the only reason why Heidelberg was always on our traveling schedule.”

He’s the only man I know who can make “peeping tom activities” sound like a college course…sigh.

27. DanceWithMe

Well, I just read the article and I am German. So here is my humble opinion:

” A PR-woman confessed to me in Paris recently that she was wet for Went.”

If she was French she surely would only use the phrase “wet for went” if she knows about your blog. Usually the French prefer to use their own juicy turns of expresssion. (And they got a lot of them!!!)

And if she was German she wouldn’t use the phrase at all. The reason “wet for went” is not translated into German in the article, even though “being wet” is not usually used in everyday German and an average German would not make any sense of that at all without really speaking English, is that the reporter who wrote the article knows your blog.
And it definatly states that wet for went has become an idiom in the fandom of Prison Break. And you definetly rule it, baby.

Yeah WFW is our Queen!!!! *shouting and dancing*

Congratulations from Berlin, Germany

28. DanceWithMe

Oh, ps: I hope DanceWithMe was not used as a nickname by any other WM fan on this site. If so, please leave a message. (I just love the way he says that in The Human Stain, shortly before kissing this other girl, he should have forgotten about by now… πŸ˜‰

29. WFW

I have one thing to say: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! *running around my studio apt screaming*

Thank you DanceWithMe!

30. mammamia

MAMA BEAR… so true!
And in my fantasy I can see all the Princeton Tigertones in that pool singing their songs to all that topless girls! WOWWWWW

31. satinfee

@DanceWithMe,
I wholeheartedly agree with your linguistic analysis! Though I must say that I use the phrase “being wet” rather a lot in my every-day German :p (I think the German equivalent would be “moist” which I hear quite often, too, but it doesn’t make such a nice alliteration as Wet for Went.)
*waves over to fellow townswoman*

LMAO, Mama Bear! So we got beer and bratwursts, Heidelberg and topless girls. The Great German Experience πŸ˜‰
I wonder though why Went doesn’t mention The Hoff… Girls only go topless here when he’s around town, ya know? πŸ˜‰

32. satinfee said:

I wonder though why Went doesn’t mention The Hoff… Girls only go topless here when he’s around town, ya know?

*whispers to avoid a renewed Anty scolding* I knew it. πŸ˜‰

33. Juma

This is SO COOL!!!
Congratulations WFW!

34. DanceForMe (formaly known as the misquotation DanceWithMe)

WFW: you truely deserve this, ’cause you saved my day so often, I can’t count it anymore and Went owes you something…
I will write to Ellen, to make it happen and maybe to see you finally on TV *being indeed a bit curious about what YOU look like* *smirks*

and to satinfee:
Good to know that I am not the only German who got infected so fast after only a few weeks of Wentism on German TV…
(Have you seen any good German website / blog about Went)

I use the wetforwent in German, too – it’s surely become a idiom in my world and it rocks so much more to be “nasty” in English. I don’t really know why, do you? πŸ˜‰

35. satinfee

LOL at the misquotation, DanceForMe!
Obsessive Wentworth Disorder is spreading! I don’t know any German sites un/fortunately, because I feel rather awkward about fangirly behaviour in German… dunno, sounds strange. And it tends to be less entertaining. πŸ˜‰

WFW, I’ve been reading through your back issues and Jeez! You’re the bestest! Big hugs!! May OLP be with you on the Ellen taping, you SO deserve it! (And I’m aching to read your recap already!)

36. Anty, look at what I found on Ellen’s site:

http://ellen.warnerbros.com/EllenMediaPlayer/?id=vblog7#topofpage

The Hoff appears to be making a comeback…yikes! You better prepare for another round of Hoffmania in Germany. πŸ˜‰

*ducking for cover*

37. Speaking of shoutouts – your site is mentioned in the podcast of GMMR & Duckydale on itunes.

38. WFW

Mama Bear, you crack me up–“he makes ‘peeping tom activites’ sound like a college course! HAHAHA! You are so right!

WFW–you are my hero, consider me your biggest fan, and that was BEFORE you became famous! Congrats!

Also, no one has mentioned the beginning of the article–boxer shorts! He’s a boxer man, did we know this? I know we saw Michael in season 1 in boxers, but I didn’t know Wenty wore them as well. MMMM Went in boxers and nothing else! *drooling*
